New Delhi, Nov. 5 -- Democrat Aftab Pureval won re-election as mayor of Cincinnati on Tuesday, defeating Cory Bowman, a Republican who is Vice President J.D. Vance's half-brother.

According to Associated Press, although the position is officially nonpartisan, Pureval is aligned with the Democratic Party.

Pureval had shown a strong public backing earlier this year by securing more than 80 percent of the vote in the all-party municipal primary held in May. He was a special assistant U.S. attorney and first claimed the mayor's office in 2021 after winning nearly 66% of the vote.
