New Delhi, Aug. 22 -- The 8th Pay Commission has not yet announced a fitment factor, but even a relatively high multiplier such as 2.0 is already being discussed as a possible benchmark for central government employees. At first glance, the number appears straightforward. A 2.0 fitment factor would double an employee's existing basic pay.

But that does not mean the employee's gross salary will double.
