New Delhi, Oct. 28 -- Biocon Ltd has appointed Mukesh Rathi as chief technology officer-designate, with the executive set to assume full responsibility for the role on 1 January 2027. He will succeed Mandar S. Ghatnekar, who is expected to remain with the company until March 2027 before moving on to a new endeavour.

Rathi joins the biotechnology company from Hinduja Group, where he served as group chief digital officer and led its enterprise-wide digital and artificial intelligence (AI) strategy. He brings more than 27 years of experience across digital transformation, AI-led innovation, process excellence and information technology management.

Before joining Hinduja Group, Rathi spent more than a decade at Dr. Reddy's Laboratories in senior leadership positions, including global chief digital and information officer. In these roles, he worked on digital transformation, process excellence and technology-enabled innovation.

Earlier in his career, he held leadership and consulting positions at Hewlett Packard, SAP and Unilever.

The appointment comes as Biocon advances its strategy to become a fully integrated global medicines company. The company expects technology, data and AI to play a greater role in supporting innovation, operational efficiency and business agility.

Rathi's mandate will include strengthening the company's technology capabilities and advancing its digital and AI initiatives, according to the company's announcement.
