India, June 25 -- The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) on Wednesday commenced construction work at Central Secretariat Metro Station for the upcoming Central Vista Metro Corridor under Phase V(A) of the Delhi Metro network. The project was launched in the presence of Union Minister for Housing and Urban Affairs and Power Manohar Lal, along with senior officials from the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs and the DMRC. The corridor forms part of the extension of the Magenta Line from Janakpuri West to RK Ashram Marg. Once completed, Central Secretariat will become a major interchange station connecting the Magenta, Yellow and Violet lines, significantly improving connectivity across central Delhi. The nearly 10-km underground corridor will have nine stations - Shivaji Stadium, Yuge Yugeen Bharat, Central Secretariat, Kartavya Bhawan, India Gate, War Memorial-High Court, Baroda House, Bharat Mandapam and Indraprastha. According to the DMRC, the corridor is designed to improve access to key government offices, courts, memorials and major event venues in the Central Vista area. Officials said the project will enhance connectivity, reduce travel time and help meet the capital's growing transportation needs.
