New Delhi, Sept. 5 -- In a room filled with colours, brushes and canvases, age appears to lose its meaning. At the 'The First Show' art exhibition, organised by DKG India, children as young as five and adults over 85 come together, united by a common language art.
The exhibition, inaugurated on September 3 at The Stainless Gallery in New Friends Colony, showcases more than 140 vibrant and thematic artworks created by 70 students of artist and organiser Dipak Kumar Ghosh. The opening ceremony began with a 'Light A Lamp' ritual, with Ghosh lighting the first lamp, followed by his students.
For Ghosh, however, the exhibition is about more than displaying artwork. His initiative, centred on "Building a Creative Community Through Art", seeks to identify latent talent while creating a space where people across generations can learn and grow together.
His philosophy of "Bridging the Age" is reflected in the diversity of his students. Young children work alongside elderly participants, allowing generations to exchange experiences and perspectives. While older participants share their life experiences, younger students develop a greater sense of empathy and care towards them. Art, Ghosh believes, can also provide an emotional outlet. Students experiencing stress and self-doubt are encouraged to work freely, helping them regain confidence and a sense of self-worth.
The exhibition will remain open to visitors until September 6, from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. A live workshop, 'Play With Colors Without A Brush', has been conducted on September 5 as part of Teachers' Day celebrations, with more than 50 students participating.
