Kolkata, Oct. 29 -- The West Bengal University of Health Sciences (WBUHS) has directed all examination centres to strengthen security arrangements for ongoing and upcoming examinations from Thursday, following instructions from state health and family welfare minister Sharadwat Mukherjee.

To prevent malpractice and detect unauthorised electronic gadgets, each centre must deploy eight frisking personnel - four men and four women - equipped with hand-held metal detectors. Separate enclosures must be set up for frisking female candidates.

The university has also made CCTV surveillance mandatory in question paper distribution system (QPDS) areas during question paper printing and sealing. Monitoring must continue inside examination halls throughout each examination to prevent malpractice and safeguard the integrity of the

examination process.

The directive takes immediate effect and will remain in force until further orders. The WBUHS will bear all expenses incurred in implementing the additional security measures, according to the communication.
