Kolkata, Oct. 13 -- The West Bengal School Service Commission (WBSSC) has published a revised preliminary list of candidates shortlisted for interviews for Assistant Teacher posts in Classes IX-X under the second State Level Selection Test (SLST), 2025.

The revised list has been prepared based on the final vacancies submitted by the West Bengal Board of Secondary Education (WBBSE) and in accordance with the state's revised reservation structure, which reduced the Other Backward Classes (OBC) quota from 17 percent to 7 percent.

As a result, around 10 per cent more general category candidates have been included in the interview list, while the representation of OBC candidates has decreased by a similar margin.

The revised preliminary list replaces the interview list published on December 12, 2025, and amended on March 13, 2026.

The commission said the dates for physical verification of original testimonials, certificates and other relevant documents, followed by oral interviews and lecture demonstrations, would be announced shortly on its website.

In a separate notice issued on Tuesday, the commission cancelled the candidature of four applicants for Assistant Teacher posts in Classes IX-X. Their names had appeared either on lists of tainted teaching and non-teaching appointees from the 2016 selection process or on a list of candidates who had not been appointed but whose OMR marks did not match those recorded in the recruitment process, as identified by the Central Bureau of Investigation.
