Kolkata, Nov. 1 -- The West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Education (WBCHSE) will revamp its existing examination management system to accommodate the semester structure while retaining support for examinations under the old annual system.
The changes will cover the Council's, schools' and students' portals. The revamped system will handle semester III and IV examinations, including supplementary examinations, as well as examinations under the old syllabus.
The integrated system serves more than 7,000 affiliated schools across 23 districts and four regional offices, covering around eight lakh students every year. Its functions include preparing student records, finalising examination centres and venues, generating roll numbers and assessing requirements for question papers, OMR sheets and other examination materials.
The system will also manage operations at the three examination-material distribution camps held every year, including the generation and printing of attendance registers, database books and other documents. It will facilitate attendance entry during examinations and online applications for sick candidates and candidates with special needs.
Following the Semester III examinations, the system will process online answer-key challenges and manage the scanning and verification of OMR sheets before the declaration of results. For Semester IV, it will handle the online entry of project, practical and theory marks, allocation of head examiners and examiners, and generation of discrepancy reports.
It will also facilitate post-publication scrutiny and review by processing applications and transferring data for result publication. The system will further support consolidated result processing for semesters III and IV and examinations under the old syllabus, besides generating marksheets, certificates and registration certificates carrying QR codes and candidates' photographs.
The selected agency will be responsible for revamping and maintaining the existing online platforms, fixing technical errors, rectifying data inconsistencies and updating modules and workflows to meet the Council's requirements, which have been outlined in a tender for a three-year contract estimated at Rs 1.25 crore per annum.
