Kolkata, Oct. 16 -- The West Bengal Board of Primary Education (WBBPE) has reopened its online portal for candidates applying for primary teacher posts under the 2025 recruitment drive to declare or modify their OBC classification in line with the revised state list, raising hopes among aspirants that the stalled recruitment may resume soon.
The portal will remain open until October 31 at 11.59 pm. Candidates who applied for Assistant Teacher posts in government, government-sponsored and junior basic primary schools can update their classification through the 'Primary Teacher Recruitment 2025 Category Correction' link on the board's website.
The move comes after the board postponed the sixth to tenth phases of interviews, viva voce examinations and aptitude tests in April, citing unavoidable circumstances.
The correction window follows two notifications issued by the state Backward Classes Welfare Department on May 18, 2026. One withdrew earlier notifications relating to OBC reservation, while the other notified a revised list of 66 OBC classes eligible for 7 per cent reservation in state government services and posts.
Candidates who applied under OBC-A or OBC-B and whose classes feature in the revised list must declare their respective OBC class on the portal to claim reservation benefits. Those who fail to update their details by the deadline will be treated as unreserved candidates.
