India, Aug. 13 -- Heavy rain on Tuesday caused temporary waterlogging at Noida International Airport, with rainwater accumulating along the passage connecting the terminal with the parking area. Airport teams cleared the affected stretch within around 30 minutes, officials said. A video showing airport personnel draining the water surfaced on social media and was later shared by Samajwadi Party MP and former Uttar Pradesh chief minister Akhilesh Yadav. "Will boats now run at the airport?" he said in a post on X. The airport said the water entered the terminal-parking passage following exceptionally heavy rainfall. Traffic was temporarily diverted, while passengers were picked up from the kerb. Flight operations continued normally, with no flights disrupted. Airport authorities said they were monitoring weather conditions and had arrangements in place to deal with rain-related situations. Noida International Airport, also known as Jewar Airport, was inaugurated on March 28 and began commercial operations on June 15. Developed under a public-private partnership with the Uttar Pradesh government, the greenfield airport is expected to begin international operations by the end of this year. Construction of the international terminal is expected to be completed by September-October.
