India, July 28 -- Water supply will remain disrupted or be available at low pressure in several parts of West Delhi from 10 am on July 29 to 2 am on July 30 due to interconnection work on a newly laid 1,100 mm diameter West Delhi water main, the Delhi Jal Board (DJB) said on Monday. According to the DJB, the work will involve interconnecting the new pipeline at four locations, inside the Khyala Booster Pumping Station (BPS), at the gate of the Khyala BPS, and at two locations near Shivaji College on Ring Road. The exercise is part of efforts to strengthen the city's water supply infrastructure. The disruption will affect the command areas of Raja Garden, Ramesh Nagar, Khyala, Rani Bagh, Moti Nagar, Sharda Puri, Tagore Garden, Tihar Village, Tilak Nagar, Varun Niketan, Rajouri Garden, Karam Pura, Saraswati Garden, Hari Nagar, Mansarovar Garden, Vishnu Garden, Subhash Nagar, parts of Uttam Nagar and Mohan Garden, Ganesh Nagar, Krishna Puri, JJ Colony Khyala, Ravi Nagar, Chand Nagar, and adjoining localities. The water utility has advised residents of the affected areas to store adequate water in advance to meet their daily requirements during the shutdown period. To minimise inconvenience, the DJB said water tankers would be made available on request. Residents can contact the Central Control Room at 1916, 23527679, 23538495, or 23634469. Tankers can also be requested through the Punjabi Bagh office at 25223658, Shivaji Enclave at 25193140 or 25174140, and Paschim Vihar at 25281197. DJB expressed regret for the inconvenience and urged residents to cooperate during the maintenance work, aimed at improving water supply reliability across West Delhi.
