In a two-page letter to Shah, Venugopal described the alleged incidents in Patlapur village under Chandrakona Police Station as "deeply disturbing". He alleged that the families were assaulted and threatened over three days, from October 18 to 20, after refusing to give up Christianity.
A woman was allegedly hit on the head and rendered unconscious, while a 15-year-old girl was allegedly strangled and threatened with abduction and rape.
Venugopal further alleged that the families were taken to a Durga Puja pandal in neighbouring Dingal village and forced to offer anjali and undergo a "purification" ritual. He claimed they were threatened
