India, Aug. 15 -- Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Friday said traders, entrepreneurs, MSMEs and startups are playing a key role in strengthening India's economy as she addressed the Bharatiya Vyapar Mahotsav 2026 at Bharat Mandapam. Organised by the Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT) in association with the India Trade Promotion Organisation (ITPO), the event showcased India's trade potential, entrepreneurship, innovation and manufacturing capabilities. MP and CAIT Secretary General Praveen Khandelwal, CAIT National President B.C. Bhartia and other dignitaries attended the programme. Addressing the gathering, Gupta said the country had moved beyond the concept of "Vocal for Local" to "Local to Global", with Indian-made products gaining recognition in international markets.
"Trade and entrepreneurship have emerged as strong pillars of India's economic strength under the vision of Viksit Bharat. Traders, MSMEs, startups and manufacturers are driving this transformation and taking Indian products to global markets," she said. The Chief Minister described Delhi as one of India's leading commercial hubs, highlighting markets such as Chandni Chowk, Sadar Bazaar, Khari Baoli, Naya Bazaar, Gandhi Nagar and Karol Bagh for their contribution to the country's economy. She said the Delhi government is working to create a transparent and business-friendly ecosystem by improving ease of doing business, promoting digitisation, upgrading infrastructure and modernising markets.
