Darjeeling, Aug. 30 -- Hirak Das, a 21-year-old tourist, and 49-year-old local resident Anil Rai were killed, while 25-year-old Akash Das was seriously injured in a road accident at Malidhura in Tukvar, along the Darjeeling-Jorethang Road, around 8.30 am on Sunday.
According to police, Hirak and Akash, who are family members from Alipurduar district, were visiting Darjeeling on a friend's motorcycle for a weekend sightseeing trip. The motorcycle reportedly hit Rai, a resident of Malidhura.
Rai sustained serious injuries and was admitted to Sadar Hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries. Hirak was brought dead to the hospital.
Akash has been referred to NBMCH for treatment.
