
Kolkata, June 21 -- The national executive meeting of the Trinamool Congress at Kalighat concluded with key organisational decisions aimed at strengthening internal discipline and restructuring the party's national leadership.
Addressing the media after the meeting, party spokesperson and MLA Kunal Ghosh announced the formation of a new five-member disciplinary committee at the national level. The committee has been constituted to ensure organisational discipline and deal with any incidents of indiscipline or internal controversies within the party. The newly formed panel includes senior leader Derek O'Brien, Dola Sen, Shovondeb Chattopadhyay, Asima Patra and Subhasish Chakraborty. According to the party leadership, the committee will monitor internal conduct and take necessary steps whenever disciplinary issues arise.
Apart from creating the new disciplinary mechanism, the meeting also approved changes to the party's national executive committee. In a move aimed at expanding its scope and representation, Trinamool MP Nadimul Haque has been inducted as a new member of the national executive.
The decisions are being seen as part of the party's effort to tighten organisational control and streamline internal functioning at the all-India level amid changing political dynamics.
