
Kolkata, April 15 -- Lakshman Ghorui, the BJP candidate from the Durgapur Paschim Assembly Constituency has been accused of threatening police personnel late on Tuesday night after a few of his party workers were arrested for alleged involvement in a clash.
According to sources, a clash had broken out on Monday between TMC and BJP at the Bankura More area under jurisdiction of Coke Oven Police Station. Police along with the central force rushed to the spot and brought the situation under control. Over the incident a case was registered at the Coke Oven Police Station.
During investigation police reportedly arrested three BJP workers on Tuesday for their alleged involvement in the clash. It is alleged that at night, Ghorui along with several of his party workers went to the police station and threatened the OC. Later, the BJP workers started agitating outside of the police station.
After almost two hours of the agitation, police assured the BJP leader that necessary action will be taken according to the law following which the agitation was withdrawn. Local TMC leadership however, demanded immediate action against Ghorui.
