Kolkata, Sept. 8 -- The family of Aziz Molla, a 32-year-old fisherman from Maipith in Kultali, donated his organs after he was declared brain-dead at SSKM Hospital following a tiger attack in the Sunderbans on September 2.

Molla was attacked by a tiger while fishing from a trawler in the Sunderbans in South 24-Parganas. He was subsequently admitted to the Trauma Care Centre of IPGMER-SSKM Hospital, where he was undergoing treatment.

Despite medical efforts, the hospital's medical board declared Molla brain-dead. Following this, his wife and other family members agreed to donate his organs, believing that the donation could help save the lives of other patients.

After the family gave consent for the retrieval of his organs, hospital authorities and regional organ allocation bodies initiated the formal procedures for organ donation and harvesting.
