
Cooch Behar, Sept. 4 -- The body of one of the two teenagers who went missing after drowning in the Buradharla River in Dinhata was recovered on Friday morning. The body of Ranjoy Barman was found floating in the river, while the search for the other teenager, Deep Kumar Roy, continues.
The incident took place on Thursday near Barabhita Kanar Chowpatty in the Matalhat Gram Panchayat area under Dinhata police station. Ranjoy and Deep reportedly drowned in the Buradharla River, prompting local residents to gather at the spot and alert the police.
Following the information, a rescue operation was launched to trace the two teenagers. However, the search had to be called off on Thursday evening due to darkness and difficult conditions in the river. The suspension of the operation left the families of both teenagers deeply anxious.
The search resumed on Friday morning, when Ranjoy's body was spotted floating in the river. Police were informed and reached the spot to recover the body.
Meanwhile, a fresh rescue operation has been launched to locate Deep Kumar Roy. A State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) team has joined the search and is carrying out an operation in the river.
The recovery of Ranjoy's body has cast a pall of grief over his family and the locality. However, uncertainty continues to surround Deep's whereabouts, leaving his family members distressed. As of the latest reports, the rescue operation is still underway to locate the missing teenager.
