Kolkata, Sept. 15 -- The debate between tea and coffee is going to get a fresh twist as the Tea Board is all set to brand all the heritage tea stalls across the country and, to start with, they have started a survey in Kolkata to identify the heritage tea stalls in the city.
C Murugan, deputy chairman of the Tea Board, said that "As trendy cafes serving coffee in glossy interiors are coming up in every corner, tea as a beverage is often taking a back seat as a drink. So, the Tea Board of India is fighting back and planning to brand the tea stalls which have been in existence for the past eight decades or more."
He said that in a bid to protect India's rich beverage -- tea. "A new plan to officially brand and upgrade traditional, heritage tea stalls across the nation. We are also doing the survey in other metro cities and major colonial towns."
