New Delhi, Nov. 4 -- A Sweden-based company specialising in sewage sludge management has expressed interest in exploring opportunities to contribute to Delhi's Yamuna rejuvenation efforts, following a meeting with Water
Minister and Delhi Jal Board (DJB) Chairman Parvesh Sahib Singh at the Delhi Secretariat.
The interaction comes as the Delhi government looks to strengthen its sewage and wastewater management infrastructure through international expertise and technology.
Singh said, "Since our government took charge, rejuvenation of the Yamuna has been one of our foremost priorities. Our clear intent and the work being undertaken in this direction are encouraging international organisations and specialised companies to explore opportunities in Delhi. Cleaning the Yamuna requires the best available technology, global expertise and sustained efforts."
He added, "We are open to working with organisations that can bring practical, technology-driven and sustainable solutions. Our focus is not limited to cleaning the river
but also on strengthening the entire water and wastewater management system of Delhi."
Meanwhile, Finland-based Aquamec's Watermaster amphibious dredging technology has already been deployed in the Najafgarh drain to remove accumulated silt, sludge and aquatic weeds, with the aim of improving water flow and reducing the pollution load entering the Yamuna.
The government is also pursuing collaborations with international development institutions.
