Kolkata, April 16 -- Tension gripped the area near Salt Lake Sector V Metro Station after an SUV rammed into an App cab and mounted the pavement early Thursday; the driver was briefly detained but later released as no complaint was filed.
According to sources, around 5 am, an App cab was heading towards New Town along Biswa Bangla Sarani from the Nicco Park side. At the same time, a black SUV was reportedly following the cab at high speed while the latter was moving at a normal pace.
After descending from the Nabadiganta flyover, the SUV driver allegedly lost control and rammed into the rear of the cab. Following the collision, the SUV veered left and mounted the roadside pavement just outside the Metro station premises.
Three occupants of the SUV sustained minor injuries and were later discharged after receiving treatment at Bidhannagar Sub-Divisional Hospital.
Questions arose over police not registering a case despite detaining the driver, with unconfirmed reports suggesting a monetary settlement between the parties.
