New Delhi, Oct. 31 -- At least four people, including a child, were severely injured in a head-on collision between two cars on Maa Flyover on Saturday morning.

The accident occurred around 8 am near Topsia Hindu Burial Ground when a speeding SUV heading towards Park Circus Seven Point crossing lost control, smashed through the central divider and rammed into an oncoming car.

The impact severely damaged both vehicles, with airbags deploying and preventing possible fatalities. Police from Topsia police station and the East traffic guard rescued the trapped occupants and rushed the injured to SSKM Hospital and a nearby private medical facility.

The accident triggered massive traffic congestion on the flyover, with normal movement restored after the damaged vehicles were towed away.

Police are examining CCTV footage to establish the SUV's speed and investigating whether its driver was under the influence of alcohol.
