Kolkata, Sept. 2 -- Higher Education minister and Suri MLA Jagannath Chattopadhyay on Wednesday said a timeline has been fixed to complete the procedural work for the proposed Suri-Nala and Suri-Prantik new railway lines, estimated to cost around Rs 2,500 crore.
Chattopadhyay said Eastern Railway has decided to include both projects under the PM Gati Shakti programme. He made the remarks after holding a meeting with Eastern Railway general manager Gitika Pandey at the Railway headquarters in Fairlie Place to discuss the status and progress of the two proposed lines.
Birbhum district magistrate Dhabal Jain and additional district magistrate Shubham Agarwal were present at the meeting along with Railway officials.
Chattopadhyay also shared a footage of what he described as the first drone survey of the proposed Suri-Prantik rail route. The images show the proposed alignment from Prantik towards Suri.
