Siliguri, July 8 -- A 17-year-old Class XI student was arrested after allegedly making obscene remarks and actions against the state's Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari and his mother in Siliguri. A video went viral on social media where the entire incident was recorded.

According to sources, the student, who studies at a school in Siliguri, had allegedly recorded the video while making a reel with his friends. In the video, he is accused of repeatedly using abusive and derogatory language against the Chief Minister and his mother. The video quickly spread across social media, triggering widespread outrage. Several local residents and a section of BJP workers staged a protest over the incident.

On Tuesday night, protesters gathered outside the student's residence. During the protest, some demonstrators allegedly hurled eggs at the house, and the student was also reportedly physically assaulted.

As tensions escalated, police rushed to the spot, rescued the student, and took him to NJP Police Station.

Later, he was arrested. He was produced before the Juvenile Justice Board on Wednesday. Further investigation is going on.
