
Kolkata, May 12 -- In two key decisions, the state government has ordered the immediate termination of appointments of 243 officials and has fixed office timings for government employees.
Nominees of the previous government, who continued to serve in various government boards, autonomous bodies or state-run
institutions as directors and chairpersons even after attaining 60 years of age, have been terminated.
A list of 243 such individuals was released on Tuesday. According to the Personnel and Administrative Reforms (PAR) Department, some of them had been serving in the North Bengal Development Department, Finance Department and Home and Hill Affairs Department, while several others were posted across departments such as PAR, Land and Land Reforms, Transport and Urban Development.
In a separate order, the government has instructed employees to reach office by 10.15 am and not to leave before 5.15 pm to ensure smooth and efficient disposal of work.
The order was issued by the Judicial Department at Writers Building on Tuesday.
