Kolkata, Oct. 30 -- Renowned magician PC Sorcar (Junior) always wanted to have a magic research centre in the state. And now, the master wizard seems to be on the path of fulfilling his dream. The Bengal government's department of Information and Cultural Affairs is set to establish a school of magic, illusion and performing arts alongside a museum dedicated to the rich tradition of magic in Bengal.
An advisory committee has been formed for the initiative, with legendary magician PC Sorcar (Junior) serving as its chief adviser. Several other eminent magicians will also hold key positions on the committee.
The first meeting of the committee was held at Nandan on Friday, in the presence of state Information and Cultural Affairs Minister Purnima Chakraborty and department secretary Saumitra Mohan. The master magician, who contested 2014 Lok Sabha election on BJP ticket and lost, was present along with his wife and daughters.
Meanwhile, a new logo of the 32nd Kolkata International Film Festival, which has been designed by director Sandip Ray, will be unveiled at Nandan on November 1. This is the first film festival under the newly-formed BJP regime.
