New Delhi, Aug. 29 -- State Food and Supplies Minister Ashok Kirtania on Saturday said the state government was committed to rooting out the institutionalised corruption that had allegedly plagued the rationing system under the previous Trinamool Congress government.
"The common people who voted us to power, and they have high expectations from the BJP government. I am travelling to every nook and corner of the state, directly interacting with beneficiaries, and trying to address their problems and grievances," Kirtania said after visiting Radhanagar village under Kenjakura Gram Panchayat in Bankura district.
Kenjakura, dominated by a tribal population, relies heavily on the public distribution system. The minister also met ration dealers.
"Over 8.5 crore people in the state depend on the rationing system for food grains, and Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari has made it clear that there will be no compromise on the quality of rice supplied. Strong action has been taken against ration dealers found compromising on quality," Kirtania said.
