Kolkata, July 5 -- St. Xavier's College (Autonomous), Kolkata, was honoured with the ABP Shiksha Ratna 2026, conferred by ABP Ananda in recognition of the college's excellence and outstanding contribution to education.
The award was presented by Union Minister of State for Education Sukanta Majumdar at a ceremony held on July 4, 2026, at The Lalit Great Eastern, Kolkata. The honour was received by Rev. Dr. Dominic Savio, SJ, Principal of the college, accompanied by the Vice-Principals-Rev. Dr. Peter Arockiam, SJ, Rev. Dr. Joseph Kulandai, SJ, and Rev. Dr. Johnson Padiyara, SJ-as well as Dr. Romit Beed, Head of the Postgraduate Department of Computer Science.
West Bengal Health and Family Welfare minister Dr. Saradwat Mukhopadhyay and state minister Tapas Roy also attended the event.
On the occasion, Rev. Dr. Dominic Savio dedicated the award to all the Jesuit Fathers, students, teaching and non-teaching staff, and alumni of St. Xavier's College (Autonomous), Kolkata.
The college expressed its gratitude to ABP Ananda for the prestigious recognition, stating that the honour reaffirms its commitment to
excellence in education and service to society.
