Lucknow, Oct. 26 -- Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav on Monday welcomed leaders from various political parties into the SP, claiming the inductions had stirred political activity across Uttar Pradesh ahead of the 2027 Assembly elections.
Former IAS officer Ram Bahadur Pasi, Kushagra Shakya, Vinod Shakya and BSP leader Dara Singh Prajapati were among those who joined the party at its headquarters. Akhilesh described the new entrants as pillars of the party's PDA (Pichhda, Dalit, Alpsankhyak) coalition and expressed confidence of a bigger electoral victory.
He announced that if the SP returned to power, it would declare a holiday on Maharishi Valmiki Jayanti, end the outsourcing system and introduce special provisions for sanitation workers. He also promised ownership rights to poor families living in their homes and houses for those without shelter.
Targeting the BJP government and the Election Commission, Akhilesh alleged irregularities in electoral rolls, claiming identical names appeared on voter lists in multiple districts. He demanded Aadhaar linkage, biometric verification at polling booths and stronger safeguards against duplicate voter identity cards.
