Kolkata, Sept. 30 -- A class IX student of South Point High School was allegedly attacked with a sharp object by one of his classmates inside the classroom on Wednesday afternoon.

The shocking incident occurred around 12:29 pm while a teacher was present in the classroom conducting a session.

According to school authorities, senior teachers and medical staff immediately rushed to the classroom to administer first aid at the school infirmary. The injured boy was subsequently rushed to Ruby General Hospital, where he was admitted.

Doctors have reported his condition to be stable. The hospital authorities informed that the injured student arrived at the hospital on Wednesday afternoon with a laceration on the neck and on multiple fingers of left hand.

Meanwhile, the student accused of stabbing his classmate was immediately segregated from his peers. He was counselled by the school's psychological cell before being handed over to his father. The South Point High School administration informed that they have lodged a formal report with the Gariahat Police Station. Preliminary inquiry revealed that the student accused of stabbing his classmate is an autistic child.
