Kolkata, Oct. 11 -- South Eastern Railway (SER) has decided to upgrade Beliatore Halt Station under the Adra division to a block station to improve operational efficiency on the Bankura-Masagram section.
The section is a single-line, electrified route with only three existing block stations at Sonamukhi, Bowaichandi and Rainagar.
At present, six pairs of coaching trains operate on the section. Long block sections have constrained the introduction of additional services despite long-standing demands from local public representatives, residents and daily commuters for increased train frequency.
The upgrade is expected to reduce the effective length of the existing block sections, providing greater flexibility in regulating train movements.
