Lucknow, July 5 -- Under the leadership of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, the Uttar Pradesh Government is set to launch a major campaign to provide a strong social security cover to sugarcane farmers and their families. A special Social Security Awareness and Enrollment Mega Campaign will be conducted from July 6 to 11 across all Cooperative Sugarcane Development Societies in the state.

Through this campaign, millions of sugarcane farmer families will be connected with various Government of India welfare schemes, including the Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana (PMJJBY), Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana (PMSBY) and the Atal Pension Yojana (APY).

The initiative aims to strengthen farmers' financial security, promote financial inclusion and enhance social stability.

The Yogi government believes that expanding the reach of social security schemes will provide farmers with financial support in situations such as accidents, untimely death and old age. This will strengthen income security and risk management for farming families while also contributing to the stability of the rural economy.

The government's objective is to ensure that the maximum number of eligible sugarcane farmer families are enrolled under these schemes so that every farmer household becomes secure, empowered and self-reliant. The campaign will also play an important role in advancing the vision of Viksit Bharat, Viksit Uttar Pradesh while promoting the holistic welfare of farmers.

The state's Cooperative Sugarcane Development Societies will serve as the key implementing agencies for the campaign. The trust they have built with farmers over the years will now be leveraged to promote social security. The societies will publicize the schemes, create awareness among farmers, facilitate the enrollment of eligible beneficiaries and ensure that the benefits reach the last eligible person. This initiative will further establish these societies as effective institutional platforms for social security in addition to their existing role in farmer services.

During the campaign, special assistance and enrollment counters will be established at every Cooperative Sugarcane Development Societies with the joint support of banks, IFFCO, sugar mills and other partner institutions.

Farmers will receive information about the schemes, eligibility verification, document scrutiny, banking assistance and on-the-spot enrollment at a single location. Facilities for new member registration, opening bank accounts and other essential services will also be made available.

The campaign will ensure the active participation of women self-help groups. Special efforts will be made to connect rural women farmers with insurance, pension and social security schemes while strengthening their role in financial decision-making. This will enhance women's economic participation and further strengthen the social security of rural families.

Sugarcane supervisors, society secretaries and departmental officials will conduct extensive outreach in villages to educate farmers about social security schemes as well as other farmer-centric initiatives being implemented by the Sugarcane Development Department, IFFCO and sugar mills.

The campaign will ensure the enrollment of the maximum number of eligible families. Gram Sabha meetings and farmer awareness sessions will also be organized across villages.
