New Delhi, Sept. 29 -- AAP Delhi president Saurabh Bharadwaj and MLA Jarnail Singh were detained by Delhi Police on
Tuesday while protesting outside the police headquarters here, demanding an FIR against BJP's Parvesh Verma for allegedly slapping a man during a road inspection in
west Delhi.
Bharadwaj and Singh, along with the detained AAP workers, were later released. The protest came amid a political row over Sunday's incident in Tilak Nagar, where Verma was inspecting road construction when Singh arrived and questioned the quality of the work. Singh allegedly peeled off portions of a newly-laid road, saying the material was of poor quality and could be scraped away easily.
The incident was being recorded by 22-year-old Sahib Singh, whom Verma allegedly slapped. Bharadwaj, in a post on X, said, "It's not about one Verma slapping one 22-year-old man, its about this new culture of politics. Look around and identify the local goons in your colony, the people who are abusing and intimidating residents.
"Police and the government should ensure justice..," he said.
