
KOLKATA, May 25 -- After a few days of shooting in Mumbai, director Vikramaditya Motwane has started filming crucial scenes of Sourav Ganguly's biopic, tentatively titled 'Dada: The Sourav Ganguly Story', in Kolkata. Interestingly, on Monday, the cast and crew filmed important scenes at the former Indian cricket captain's house in Behala in south Kolkata. By now, we all know that Rajkummar Rao will be seen playing Sourav in the biopic.
Bengali actress Aparajita Auddy was seen in a white and red bordered saree, shooting for the much-awaited Bollywood movie. She will be seen as Nirupa Ganguly, Sourav's mother, in the film. On Monday, Motwane shot a sequence where a child actor, who plays Sourav's growing-up years, was seen coming home. At the other end of his house, a little girl was seen keeping an eye on him. Reportedly, this sequence shows the childhood love story of Sourav and his wife, dancer Dona Ganguly.
Meanwhile, Saswata Chatterjee, who will be seen as Sourav's father, Chandi Ganguly, reportedly shot a few sequences in Mumbai. Rahul Dev Bose will be seen playing Sourav's brother Snehasish Ganguly. The makers have reportedly cast Tanya Maniktala in the role of Dona Ganguly. Several names of Bengali actresses, like Mimi Chakraborty and Ishaa Saha, were doing the rounds.
Motwane will shoot for the biopic in various locations in Kolkata. In a recent podcast, Sourav praised Rao's acting skills and said that the movie will capture the journey of Indian cricket during his era.
