Kolkata, May 24 -- Several MEMU passenger and express trains will remain cancelled or regulated on the Barddhaman-Asansol section till May 27 owing to non-interlocking work at Panagarh station under the Asansol Division of Eastern Railway.

The railway authorities said the work is being undertaken for conversion of the existing panel interlocking system into an electronic interlocking system at Panagarh station. The pre non-interlocking and non-interlocking work on the up and down lines will continue daily from 12 noon to 6 pm between May 24 and May 27. Eastern Railway said multiple MEMU passenger services between Barddhaman and Asansol would remain cancelled during the period. On all four days from May 24 to May 27, two Asansol-Barddhaman and two Barddhaman-Asansol MEMU Passenger services will remain cancelled.

On May 27, an additional nine MEMU passenger services will remain cancelled, including four between Barddhaman and Asansol, three between Asansol and Barddhaman, one between Andal and Barddhaman and one between Asansol and Andal.

The Howrah-Siuri Hool Express and Siuri-Howrah Hool Express will also remain cancelled on May 27.

Railway authorities also announced short termination and short origination of some MEMU passenger services. The Barddhaman-Jhajha-Barddhaman MEMU Passenger trains on May 24, 25 and 26 will run only between Asansol and Jhajha, while services between Barddhaman and Asansol will remain cancelled in both directions.

Similarly, the Barddhaman-Bokaro Steel City-Barddhaman MEMU Passenger trains on May 27 will originate from and terminate at Asansol, with the Barddhaman-Asansol portion remaining cancelled in both directions.

Several long-distance trains will also face delays because of the work. The Howrah-Dehradun Kumbha Express, Kolkata-Jammu Tawi Express and Howrah-Jabalpur Shaktipunj Express on May 27 will be regulated by around 75 minutes en route.
