India, Aug. 11 -- A sanitation worker died, while another is in critical condition after both entered a manhole outside a factory in Faridabad Sector-25, police said on Monday. According to the police, Aslam and Bunty, residents of the Ashiana flats in Sector 56, work as sewer cleaners. On Monday, the factory owner called the duo to clean the manhole, following which they arrived at 10 am. Police citing eyewitnesses said the two descended into the manhole without any safety gear. They soon began to suffocate and cried out for help, prompting the bystanders to help them out. Police said they arrived at the scene after being informed of the incident and helped rescue Aslam and Bunty. While Aslam (34) died on the spot, Bunty (37) was admitted to a private hospital in critical condition, police said. Aslam's family members have filed a complaint, blaming the factory owner's negligence for his death. "We have received a complaint from relatives of the deceased. A case will be registered against the factory owner following an investigation. We have sent the body to a mortuary for a post-mortem examination", Inspector Kewal Singh, SHO of Sector-58 police station, said.
