New Delhi, Sept. 22 -- Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Tuesday inaugurated several road and drainage infrastructure projects worth around Rs 25 crore in Najafgarh as part of the Delhi government's Seva Sankalp Abhiyan.
The projects are aimed at improving roads and strengthening drainage infrastructure in the area, with the government saying the works would improve civic amenities for local residents. "From better roads and drains to stronger drainage infrastructure, these projects will strengthen civic amenities and make everyday life easier for the people of Najafgarh," Gupta said while addressing a gathering.
The Chief Minister also said that 10 other projects, involving an expenditure of Rs 33 crore, are currently underway across seven unauthorised colonies in the area.
She said the government had also taken up projects that had remained stalled under the previous government.
"Along with the projects we have inaugurated today, we have also taken up projects that had come to a halt under the previous government," Gupta said. Public Works Department Minister Parvesh Sahib Singh said the government was also examining a proposal for an elevated road along the Najafgarh-Phirni Road to ease traffic congestion in the area. The development works come as part of the government's ongoing Seva Sankalp Abhiyan, under which infrastructure and civic projects are being taken up across different parts of the city. The government said the works in Najafgarh are intended to improve basic infrastructure and address local requirements related to road connectivity and drainage.
