India, Aug. 17 -- The Railways has appreciated Dilkhush Meena, Deputy Commissioner, Karol Bagh Zone, Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD), for overseeing the removal of around 6,333 metric tonnes of legacy waste from railway tracks in the zone. The operation was carried out through coordinated efforts between the MCD and the Railways, including joint field surveys, regular inspections and continuous supervision. Officials identified waste accumulation points and assessed challenges related to access and transportation along railway corridors. With conventional routes unavailable, the MCD adopted an arrangement using BRN wagons for direct evacuation of the waste. The clearance involved night-time operations and joint monitoring by MCD and Railway officials. The Railways described the initiative as a first-of-its-kind collaborative effort for removing legacy waste from railway corridors. The MCD said the model could be replicated in other areas to strengthen inter-agency coordination and improve urban sanitation.
