Kolkata, July 9 -- The Trinamool Congress on Thursday alleged that eggs were hurled at one of its leaders in East Midnapore's Ramnagar by a man who claimed he was acting on the "government's order".
Sharing a video of the incident on social media, which could not be verified by Millennium Post, the party alleged that the accused was heard saying he had "the government's order" and was in charge of the area, allowing him to act with impunity. TMC claimed the remarks reflected a deteriorating law and order situation and accused the ruling party of fostering a culture of political intimidation.
TMC also alleged that the incident raised serious concerns over the safety of women, elderly people and political opponents, while questioning the role of the police. It demanded strict action against those responsible and said such acts should not be normalised in a democracy.
