India, Aug. 29 -- The Delhi Traffic Police on Friday organised a special road safety drive on the occasion of Raksha Bandhan, tying rakhis to responsible road users and urging them to commit to following traffic rules. The initiative, "Rakhi ka waada, suraksha ka iraada," combined education, enforcement and encouragement to promote traffic discipline across the national capital. "As part of the drive, traffic personnel interacted with commuters at several major intersections and traffic points, including Chintamani traffic light and Seelampur traffic light in Shahdara Circle and Majnu Ka Tila Check Post," a senior police officer said. Personnel appreciated road users who complied with traffic rules, while women police officers tied rakhis to them as a symbolic gesture of safety and protection. The commuters were encouraged to reciprocate by pledging to continue following traffic regulations. Commuters were urged to wear helmets, use seat belts, follow traffic rules, maintain lane discipline, avoid mobile phones and refrain from drunk driving.
