Raiganj, Nov. 4 -- Demanding the recovery of a housewife's body from the Kulik River, relatives and local residents blocked a state highway near Kulik Bird Sanctuary in Raiganj, North Dinajpur district, on Wednesday morning. The blockade continued for over an hour, causing severe traffic congestion. The protesters demanded that expert divers be deployed to trace the missing body. The road was reopened following assurances from police officials.

Priti Yadav Ghosh allegedly jumped into the river from Kulik bridge late on Tuesday afternoon. Some people fishing nearby reportedly witnessed the incident and searched for her but failed to find her. Rescue teams from the Disaster Management department and fire services subsequently launched a search operation, but the body remained untraced.

Police arrested Priti's husband, Saurav Ghosh, father-in-law Dilip Ghosh and mother-in-law Rita Ghosh on Tuesday evening in connection with the case. They were produced before a court on Wednesday and reportedly remanded to 14 days' judicial custody.

"We have been waiting for more than 18 hours, but the body has still not been recovered. We demand that the administration deploy highly skilled divers to trace it as soon as possible," said Sonu Yadav, one of the protesting youths. A senior officer of Raiganj Police Station said the search operation was continuing and every possible effort was being made to recover the body.
