India, July 28 -- Punjab Police on Monday conducted 476 raids at locations allegedly linked to associates of gangsters across the state as part of its "Gangstran Te Vaar" campaign to make Punjab gangster-free. On Day 188 of the campaign, launched by DGP Gaurav Yadav on January 20, police arrested 260 people and recovered six weapons, taking total arrests to 53,508. Preventive action was also taken against 225 people, while one proclaimed offender was arrested. Meanwhile, the police's anti-drug drive "Yudh Nashian Virudh" entered its 513th day, with 66 "drug smugglers" arrested and 2.2 kg heroin, 11 kg poppy husk, 505 intoxicant pills and Rs 5 lakh drug money recovered. Total arrests under the drive reached 74,679. Seven people were also persuaded to undergo de-addiction treatment.
