Kolkata, June 8 -- Recognising the extra service of police personnel and Home Guards during the festive season, the West Bengal government has sanctioned an additional 10 days of leave for eligible police personnel and Home Guard volunteers who performed extended duties during Durga Puja and other public holidays in 2025.

Bengal Police Personnel, Kolkata Police Personnel and Home Guard Volunteers of West Bengal & Kolkata Home Guard Organisation who were deployed in duties for more than 7 days during Puja holidays and other Gazetted Holidays in the year 2025 will come under this purview ,as per a notification issued by the state Home and Hill Affairs department on Monday.

Under the new arrangement, eligible personnel will get 8 days of Compensatory Casual Leave (CCL) and 2 days of Special Leave, bringing the total additional leave entitlement to 10 days. The notification states that the leave must be availed of on or before December 31, 2026.

The government has also clarified that these leave days cannot be combined with any major category of leave or local gazetted holidays. However, they may be taken along with ordinary casual leave, subject to applicable rules and administrative approval.
