New Delhi, Sept. 1 -- Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) employee Prafull Singh has secured a Guinness World Record for completing the fastest journey across all stations of the Delhi Metro network, covering the entire challenge in 14 hours, 54 minutes and 36 seconds.
Singh undertook the journey on May 23, beginning at 6 am from Raja Nahar Singh station on the Violet Line and completing the route at Millennium City Centre station in Gurugram at around 9 pm.
He bettered the previous record of 15 hours, 21 minutes and four seconds, achieved by Sujoy Kumar Mitra and Shipra Gupta in June 2023. Singh had previously held the record in 2022, when he covered 254 stations in 16 hours, two minutes and 17 seconds. His latest attempt was aided by detailed route planning and his professional familiarity with the Delhi Metro network.
As a DMRC operations employee, Singh has extensive knowledge of train schedules, routes and operational procedures, which helped him plan transfers and minimise delays.
"I was sure of breaking the Guinness World Record with a significant margin this time," Singh said to some media, recalling that his earlier attempt had been delayed by about one-and-a-half hours after he took an incorrect route.
The Guinness challenge involves specific verification requirements. For a station to be counted, the train must physically stop there. Participants are not required to disembark at every station, but must provide timestamped photographic evidence from each location.
Singh said the achievement was not merely a personal milestone but also an opportunity to highlight the scale and efficiency of Delhi Metro.
"This achievement is much more than a personal record for me," he said, adding that his association with DMRC provided him an opportunity to showcase the network's reach and efficiency and encourage greater use of public transport.
