India, Aug. 21 -- The Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) has intensified sanitation measures around the Red Fort following the Independence Day celebrations as part of its 'Delhi Ko Kude Se Azadi' campaign. The Old Delhi Zone (ODZ) conducted a special post-event cleanliness drive at the Red Fort complex and adjoining areas on Thursday. The exercise focused on clearing waste generated during the celebrations, cleaning roads and surrounding areas, and ensuring the upkeep of public spaces. The drive was conducted in the presence of Zonal Chairperson Usha Sharma and Area Councillor Suman Gupta. Deputy Commissioner Kanika was also present during the sanitation operation. Officials said the teams would continue to monitor the area and undertake cleaning operations whenever required. The special drive comes after the conclusion of the Independence Day celebrations at the historic monument, which attracts large numbers of visitors and participants during the national event. The civic body said maintaining sanitation in and around the venue was important to ensure that public spaces remained clean and aesthetically maintained after the event. Appeal to citizens The MCD has also urged residents and visitors to avoid littering in public places and dispose of waste only at designated locations. The civic body said citizen participation was essential for achieving the objective of making Delhi cleaner and garbage-free. It appealed to people to support the 'Delhi Ko Kude Se Azadi' campaign by adopting responsible waste disposal practices and keeping public spaces clean.
