India, Aug. 13 -- Delhi Police conducted an extensive night patrolling exercise, or General Gasht, across all 15 districts ahead of Independence Day celebrations. The exercise, held from 11pm on August 11 to 2am on August 12, was supervised by Police Commissioner Anurag Kumar and involved senior officers and personnel. Police checked 22,774 vehicles and 2,780 bad characters, arresting 55. Preventive action was taken against 18,537 people under Section 65 and 2,409 under Section 66 of the Delhi Police Act. Police also registered 917 Excise Act cases and 21 cases under the Arms Act.
