
New Delhi, April 15 -- In a major crackdown on organised crime, Delhi Police's Outer District unit registered 47 cases under the Excise and Gambling Acts and apprehended 58 individuals, including eight women, within 24 hours.
The special drive, conducted under the supervision of Vikram Singh, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Outer District), targeted illegal gambling and illicit liquor trade across multiple police station jurisdictions.
Police recovered Rs 26,470 in cash linked to betting and seized 2,432 quarters of illegal liquor. Officials said 29 individuals were apprehended for gambling, with 18 cases registered under the Gambling Act at police stations including Rani Bagh, Mangolpuri, Raj Park, Sultanpuri, Mundka, Ranhola and Paschim Vihar. Gambling materials were also seized. In a parallel crackdown, 29 individuals, including eight women, were arrested under the Delhi Excise Act, with 29 cases registered. The liquor consignments were recovered from multiple locations, suggesting a widespread network.
Officials said the drive was part of a broader strategy to dismantle organised crime networks. Investigations are underway to trace supply chains and identify larger syndicates, with
further arrests likely.
