New Delhi, Sept. 26 -- Advisor to the Prime Minister Tarun Kapoor on Saturday reviewed ongoing infrastructure projects of Eastern Railway (ER) and called for expediting redevelopment works, particularly those under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme.
Kapoor chaired a meeting with ER general manager Gitika Pandey, Howrah DRM Vishal Kapoor, Sealdah DRM Rajeev Saxena and senior Railway officials. The meeting focused on projects in the Howrah and Sealdah divisions, passenger amenities and the progress of station redevelopment works. Later, Kapoor inspected Dankuni station with the ER GM and senior officials to take stock of the redevelopment work under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme.
The redevelopment of Dankuni Station is estimated to cost Rs 18.66 crore. The ground floor of the main station building, its elevation and porch have been completed. Work on the circulating area, parking area, platform surfaces and sheds, illumination, and train information and GPS clock systems has also been completed. Dankuni, on the Howrah-Burdwan chord line, handles more than 30,000 passengers a day on average. During the inspection, officials also assessed passenger amenities and operational arrangements, with a focus on completing the remaining infrastructure work at the earliest.
