Siliguri, Oct. 2 -- More than 200 students from leading schools across North Bengal participated in the Mind Spark - Inter-School Recitation & Extempore Speech Competition 2026 organised by the Siliguri Institute of Technology (SIT), showcasing their oratory skills, confidence and presence of mind. The event featured competitions in recitation and extempore speech, with students demonstrating their command over English and their mother languages.

The participants were judged by a panel comprising renowned elocutionist Bratati Bandyopadhyay from Kolkata, Akashvani and Doordarshan artists Sumita Dutta, Amitava Ghosh and Sanchita Bhattacharjee, as well as soft skills expert Ranjan Chettri. In the Extempore Speech category, Ritika Singh of Army Public School, Sukna, emerged as the champion. Kaveri Paul of Amarjyoti International School was declared the first runner-up, while Anusaya Rawat of Delhi Public School secured the second runner-up position.

In the Recitation category, Aradhrita Bagchi of KV Siliguri won the championship, while Debadrita Roy, also from KV Siliguri, was adjudged the first runner-up. The joint second runner-up positions were secured by Yasvi Bansal of DPS and Ahana Dutta of Techno India Group Public School, Siliguri.
