Noida, Aug. 25 -- The Noida Authority has planned a six-lane underpass at Parthala Chowk at an estimated cost of Rs 80 crore to ease daily traffic congestion and improve connectivity along the FNG Corridor.
The proposed underpass will be approximately 710 metres long, with three lanes in each direction. It is expected to ease bottlenecks at the busy junction, where traffic heading towards Ghaziabad, NH-9, the Meerut Expressway and the Noida-Greater Noida Expressway converges.
Parthala Chowk links the FNG Corridor with Vikas Marg and experiences heavy vehicular movement throughout the day, particularly during morning and evening peak hours. The junction is also expected to witness increased traffic with future connectivity towards Faridabad.
According to the proposal, the underpass will include a 110-metre RCC box, a 20-metre open section and 280-metre approach roads on either side. The project is expected to be completed within 18 months.
To prevent waterlogging during the monsoon, the Authority has planned two sumps along with a pumping system.
Diaphragm wall technology and cast-in-situ RCC construction will be used to ensure the stability of the surrounding soil and nearby structures during construction.
Once completed, the underpass is expected to improve traffic flow along the FNG Corridor, reduce delays at Parthala Chowk and enhance road safety by minimising vehicle stoppages and congestion at the intersection.
Residents and commuters from sectors 66, 71, 121 and 122, as well as Kisan Chowk, Chhijarsi and nearby areas, are likely to benefit from better connectivity and shorter travel times.
